Dutch lingo

We think that there is no reason to ruin your throat trying to speak Dutch. Just as long as you are in Rotterdam and speak English, you won't have a problem. But if you want to have a go, say something in their lingo and you will impress the Dutch, who will react very enthusiastically. So here are just a few phrases that you could try:

Can I have two beers?       Mag ik twee bier van u?
Another two please. Nog twee alstublieft.
Do you mind if I pay tomorrow? Vindt u het erg als ik morgen kom betalen?
My bicycle has been stolen.  Mijn fiets is gestolen.
At what time does the last train to Amsterdam leave? Hoe laat gaat de laatste trein naar Amsterdam?

These may help you, if they don't, then don't worry about it. The people in Rotterdam are very friendly, and they will help you if you need it. We found that some people will also come upto you in the street and ask if they can assisst you, or if they can point you in the right direction. Dutch language may be difficult, but the Dutch all speak English, so you will allways be understood no matter what language you decide to use.
